Text Box: Welcome and enjoy the work. I want to make a statement about the work as people keep asking me what I am trying to do. The easiest answer is “paint”. However, that is not enough for most people so I will give an abbreviated statement. In my paintings I have taken traditional themes such as landscape, still life and figurative painting and simply translated them into my own language. Basically, I have an aversion to traditional shaped canvases. So, I don’t use stretchers and limit the use of square and rectangular shapes. I like the idea that paintings encompassing a larger space and actually come down onto the floor and into the viewer’s space. I like the fact that tables have legs that should touch the floor? I like combining materials: I will use shoes, rugs, photos, fabrics, clocks etc. and paint into them, incorporating the real with the painted. I like the figures in my paintings to have lives, to be realistic not idealistic. Basically that is what my paintings are about. I think of my paintings the same way as I think of myself. "What you see is what you get".
Shown here are just a few of my painting. More to come upon further construction of this site
